Things are starting to gain shape here. I feel like I want to spend a long duration of time on this one; the kinks are just starting to be sorted out. J em Southam came to MassArt for last Fall's lecture series and I was just not really into him at the time. Now that I have started these though, I have gained a whole new respect for what he makes. I'm starting to realize that what sparks his work also influences mine...

I have always been interested in the "outdoor studio". I saw this photograph on Alec Soth's Blog, Little Brown Mushroom, and decided to apply it to my newer ideas. I'm blown away by how he applied this way of photographing into his new body of work, Broken Manual. His collaboration of fuzzy digital portraits with these clean black&white images are so inspiring. I have a lot to play with here and am pretty psyched on the fact that I am passionate about what this stuff is about...

Something is beginning to form here. Luke gave me a 4x5 that he just randomly had in his room and i'm happy to say that it makes a great image! I think I decided yesterday that i'm going to move these towards my book project for my Digital Photo class with S. Billie Mandle. The previous photos that I posted were also for that class. I'm pretty excited about the triptychs though. They are some of the better images I have made in the past couple of weeks...
